The P.E.A.C.E. Projects is an initiative to sponsor and mentor early childhood educators in promoting peace education for young children in the classroom and/or community.
P.E.A.C.E. Projects 2025
Critchlow Adkins Children’s Center, Maryland
How it started!
We started our P.E.A.C.E initiative by notifying our parents of our upcoming events. Throughout the grant process, we would add quotes to our newsletters in an effort to send positive messages to our families. We would often ask the children throughout our grant period “What did peace mean to them?”
Peace and Kindness Lessons
Over the last couple of months, the teachers taught the children many lessons about working together in different settings, instrument march, spending time working with friends they would not normally play with, making art for our community, and creating classroom puzzles with our friends.

More activities!
Creating roller coasters, making our books, creating pictures for our teachers, playing chess, and our end of grant ice cream party.

Classroom and Hallway Displays
Spreading PEACE one day at a time and hallway display for our school community, friends, and families!

Spreading PEACE in our community!
Our art work can be found in our local Giant, Laundry Mat, our Critchlow main office, and our School age site for sure. We asked many businesses to display the children’s messages. Many were unsure if they were allowed to but accepted our art anyway. We asked businesses like Wal-Mart, Family Dollar, Chase Braxton, Royal Farms, Chick fa la, and the Easton Hospital surgery department. This was kind of difficult because as much as we were trying to spread peace there were a few individuals who were not so nice. I just smiled with grace and thanked them for their support.

Thank you so much!
