Action Alert — June 2025

Upcoming Budget Reconciliation Act

Please contact both of your U.S. Senators right away, to express your opposition to the proposed Budget Reconciliation Act, which just passed the House after an all-night session with lots of threats to Republican Congressmen who had reservations. Your voice is needed now, particularly as an expert in how much good child care matters to growing children, and to their parents.

Without your care, the bill will make many parents stay home with their children or leave them in unsafe or harmful conditions that hurt their growth. The bill before the Senate cuts Head Start funding, Federal and State help for child care and education, and the food and health funding that low income families need. Please remind your Senator’s staff that many of their voting constituents will suffer from the bill and vote accordingly. Please write to your Senators and call (202) 224-3121 today.

From May 24 until June 1, your Senators will be in recess, and probably back in your state. This would be a great opportunity for you to call their local staff (you can google the Senator’s name + “local staff”), and either invite them to your program, or ask for an appointment near where you live during the week. This is a great and timely opportunity to get our messages across to them, and save your Federal and State funding. Thank you!
