Action Alert — September 2025

Protect Early Childhood Programs and Head Start

We still need your actions contacting your Representatives and Senators, to help them make Federal appropriations for early childhood programs that will put America back to work, with child care and Head Start the parents can trust and afford. The Senate’s Appropriations Committee has recommended increases:

  • A $170 million increase for early learning programs over fiscal year 2025.
  • Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG): $8.83 billion – an $85 million increase over fiscal year 2025.
  • Head Start and Early Head Start: $12.36 billion, an $85 million increase over fiscal year 2025.
  • Preschool Development Birth Through Five (PDG B-5): $315 million, level with fiscal year 2025.

Your U.S. Senators still need to vote for that recommendation when it comes to the full Senate, and the House hasn’t done anything significant in this direction. You can help them, even with just a call to (202) 224-3121. The operator will connect you with the offices of each of your Senators and your Representative, so that you can make your own pitch. Go for it!
