Candlewick Press, 2024.

Carole Boston Weatherford, children’s book author and poet, regularly pulls stories from the past to demonstrate traditions, and struggles. In her newest book, she gives us a fun celebration of a particular group of friends living a very busy life. From sunrise to sunset, these boys joyously spend the day together as they live their best lives freely in their community. They show us confidence, a touch of swag, and wisdom. These devoted friends do everything together, for example: build a time machine, read, take a group selfie, work in the community garden, and play basketball, while showing the readers about caring, leading, crying, and glowing. The language is full of action words.

Illustrated 2-page spread from Bros, depicting all 5 African Amreican boys playing helping in the garden. The text says, "Bros dare. We care."

With rhyming, spare text and colorful, vibrant illustrations from artist, Reggie Brown, we all witness the pleasures of young friendship. You would want to be part of this posse. #BlackBoyJoy
