I am eager to share this new picture book.

The book begins as friends are meeting up before school.

“Where do we find peace? Is peace in you? Is peace in me?”

This book is an examination of the strategies that go into teaching the concept of peace to young children. The images also depict ways that children can help each other achieve peace. Whether we’re learning, playing, taking turns, or dealing with bruised feelings, peace is always there. Using key philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi and Maria Montessori, coauthors Arun Gandhi (grandson of Mahatma Gandhi) and Bethany Hegedus, created an essential introduction which is complemented by the joyous illustrations of Andrés Landazábal of Colombia.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “If we are to teach real peace in this world… we shall have to begin with children.”

“I can hear change humming
In its loudest, proudest song.
I don’t fear change coming,
And so I sing along.”
