P.E.A.C.E. Month of Giving, February 2023
Last month, our organization started a new donation initiative called Shine a Light on Peace. Several donations were made, and we would like to celebrate some of the people who were honored.
Honoree: Donna Satterlee
Honoring her for stepping up to succeed Fran Roznowski, and for her work to make the 2022 Conference a P.E.A.C.E. success.
Honoree: John Surr
I am choosing to honor John because of his dedication to the peace organization for all of these years, and because he was an encouragement to me when I joined the organization a long time ago.
Honoree: Diane Levin
In honor of the work of Diane Levin. As an educator/activist, she has inspired me, mentored me, and opened doors for me. I have been blessed to know her.

Honorees: P.E.A.C.E. Executive Committee Members
This year I honor all the members who have been on the Executive Committee since its formation with the adoption of our new bylaws. Their commitments have been shown by turning up month after month on Zoom meetings which have kept the work of P.E.A.C.E. going forward as we made the transitions to email newsletters and got through the COVID-19 period of isolation — and no in-person conferences. They have made it work for our business to go forward with the e-communications between Zoom meetings. This has helped P.E.A.C.E. to all who have contributed to become stronger and learn to connect in difficult times. I am so grateful to all who have contributed to this effort.
Honoree: Angela Davis
I would like to recognize Angela Davis for her awesome support and dedication to our monthly P.E.A.C.E. newsletter.
Honoree: Joyce Daniels
Your steadfast leadership as some members age and pull back is one of your many contributions to P.E.A.C.E.
Honoree: I am honoring my friend Sunny Wallick
The CEASE newsletter began in 1981 and I started as part of the Newsletter group in 1987. I was fortunate to meet many new friends through CEASE (Concerned Educators Allied for a Safe Environment). Sunny, from sunny CA, and I shared some inspirational conversations at our annual gatherings. I respected her ideas and activism. I adored her outlook on life and tried to model my teaching practices on our conversations. I miss her and her courageous spirit.
Honoree: Marilyn Shelton
I honor Marilyn for her constant and intelligent work to educate everyone about peace education.
Donations were also made to remember loved ones:
In memory of my friend Cheri Fuller.
In honor of Kathy Thornburg, long time member and past President of the NAEYC.
