War statistics often fail to capture the daily realities of survival. Behind every number is a child who needs medicine, a mother struggling to feel her family, or a baby fighting to breathe. Through this project, we aimed to provide critical support to vulnerable groups, particularly children affected by the war.

Our efforts were coordinated locally by Olesya Saban, our trusted contact in Ukraine. As a lecturer at Lviv Polytechnic National University and longtime partner, Olesya has spent years building networks with local charities, hospitals and displaced families. Her deep community connections allowed us to identify the most urgent needs and verify every expenditure with documentation. Together, we adapted to urgent needs as they arose, ensuring that funds were directed where they could save lives and alleviate suffering.

Originally, this initiative planned to deliver winter supplies such as warm clothing, solar lights, and hygiene kits. However, after receiving an urgent request from Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Lviv, we pivoted to address life-threatening emergencies. Below is how funds were allocated:

Diapers and other baby supplies next to a stuffed pig doll Packages of diapers, baby lotion, infant medicines and other baby supplies piled up against a wall.

  1. Emergency Medical Aid for Children with Sepsis
Situation: The hospital needed 25 vials of medication for critically ill children whose families could not afford treatment.
Action: We secured 15 vials at a discounted rate
Impact: Provided immediate life-saving care for children in intensive care.
  2. Support for Families of Fallen Soldiers
Situation: Four families – including single mothers and children – lost fathers in the war and lacked basic necessities.
Action: Used money to distribute the purchased goods among the four families (see pictures below)
Impact: Sustained 4 families, including a disabled child and an expecting mother near the frontline.
  3. Lifesaving Formula for a Baby with Cystic Fibrosis
Situation: A 4-month-old with cystic fibrosis required specialized formula and medication. The child’s father served in the armed forces before the baby, who has a disability, was born. The mother, originally  from Kramatorsk—which is now nearly destroyed—dedicated much of her time to volunteering. Now relocated to the Cherkasy region, they find themselves in need of support, as the baby’s treatment requires costly medication.
Action: Allocated remaining funds for formula and prescriptions.
Impact: Ensured the infant’s survival and health stability.

We shifted from planned winter aid to emergency medical and family support due to acute needs as a result of the direct impact of the ongoing war. While we deviated from the original plan, every dollar was used to uphold our mission: protecting children’s lives and dignity in wartime.

We extend deep thanks to Oleysya Saban, whose local expertise ensured aid reached those most in need, and our PEACE donors, whose compassion made this project possible.

We encourage you to donate and contribute to the continuation of our P.E.A.C.E. Projects.
