Building cultures of peace for 45 years

By Sarah Pirtle

The film Weaving Circles of Peace: Journey Camp was made to help peace-builders of all ages find and strengthen each other.

When Journey Camp celebrated thirty years, filmmaker Lucie McCormick was invited to film for a day in the summer of 2024. Lucie filmed morning singing workshops and afternoon circles under the large sycamore called the Story Tree as well as an activity called “Shark-Turtle-Kangaroo” that teaches how to talk things out. Editors Bailey Galvin-Scott and Katie Langton of Red Thread Visuals completed the film.

As an extension of this, Peace Camps Connect is a new project that helps locate peace camps all over the world. At the start of the film, these words are said:

We have this sense that the earth is singing peace.
We want to join in that song.
