In October, we held our 6th annual Chris Lamm Legacy Lecture at Fullerton College (FC), California. Dr. Chris Lamm (pictured above) worked at FC as a professor in the Child Development & Educational Studies Department for many years, and was known for being a social justice activist. She advocated for the rights of children, fought against racism and bigotry, and was the founder and co-founder of community groups such as Orange County Peace Camp, Stand For Children, Fullerton Collaborative, and the FC Food Bank. As some of you know, Chris was an avid member of P.E.A.C.E. (formerly known as CEASE).

This year, we invited Sharon Quirk-Silva, Assemblywoman and long-time friend of Chris, to speak to our students, staff, and community members on the legislation of education. Sharon spent time with our staff at the CDES Lab School on campus, before moving to the Wilshire Auditorium, where she spoke about some of our current concerns in education, emphasizing COVID-19 and the negative impact it had on our educational system as well as children’s overall health and well-being.
