Acknowledgement Statement
Protecting Children and Supporting Families Affected by Immigration Enforcement Actions
We at P.E.A.C.E. acknowledge the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and its advocacy on behalf of young children, families, and early childhood educators affected by immigration enforcement actions. NAEYC’s statement highlights the profound impact that family separation, detention, and fear can have on children’s development, wellbeing, and learning. Grounded in child development research, the organization emphasizes the importance of safe, stable, and nurturing environments for all children.
As early childhood professionals, we recognize the critical role educators play in supporting children and families during times of uncertainty and stress. We affirm the importance of creating inclusive, caring, and trauma-informed learning environments where every child feels safe, valued, and supported. We also acknowledge the ongoing efforts of NAEYC to provide resources, advocacy, and guidance that promote the healthy development and wellbeing of all young children.
