Report from Peace Retreat 2025

In June, P.E.A.C.E. members met in person and via Zoom at the Mercy Center in Auburn, CA, for our annual retreat.

Creative Spirit Learning Center reports on how they used the $800 PEACE Project grant for their preschool focused on play.

Our June Book Club Meeting focused on the topic of Social Stories, which explain a social situation, concept, or behavior.

Playing with words, ideas, concepts and problem solving can be as much fun as playing with dolls and balls, especially as we get older.

“I’m so messy!” she shouted with the biggest grin. Between the belly laughs she was learning way more than any worksheet could teach her.

The lyrics of “Everyday People,” by Sly and The Family Stone, carry a message of equality and peace reflected in the diverse band.

This month’s poem, Younger Than War, by Mosab Abu Toha, gives the author’s viewpoint of a September 2020 attack in Palestine.

Nose to Nose, by Thyra Heder, is a picture book for ages 4 to 8 that talks about the courage to face difficult problems though fun, silly dogs.
