FY2027 Appropriations
Congress is coming back into session on June 1, after a Memorial Day recess. There’s much on their agenda, but one of the outstanding issues is the FY2027 Appropriations. According to NBC, President Donald Trump… said it’s “not possible” for the federal government to fund Medicare, Medicaid and child care costs, arguing that it should be up to the states to “take care” of those programs while the federal government focuses on military spending. But Congress is split on this and other issues, with many Republicans joining Democrats in opposition to his $1.5 trillion Defense budget proposal, because of Child Care Funding and other national priorities.
It’s up to us to help others to make a difference when Congress takes up the Appropriations in June. Please reach out to your Senators and Representatives to advocate for this, and encourage your colleagues as well as the parents of the children you serve to do the same. It’s easy. For instance, you can email Congress today! Compose your message and get it where it will do some good. Thank you in advance.
