National Bullying Prevention Month

Bullying is a difficult topic that can be challenging for both teachers and parents to address. However, by raising awareness and openly discussing the issue, we can take important steps toward preventing bullying behaviors and supporting those who are affected. National Bullying Prevention Month 2026 provides an excellent opportunity to engage children in meaningful anti-bullying activities, such as those highlighted here.

October 2 — International Day of Nonviolence

In 2026, World Teachers’ Day celebrates the 60th anniversary of the 1966 UNESCO recommendation on teachers’ rights and responsibilities. The day honors educators’ essential contributions while raising awareness of ongoing challenges, including limited support, low pay, heavy workloads, and a lack of influence in educational decision-making.

October 9 — Hangeul Day (South Korea)

Celebrating the invention of the Korean alphabet in the year 1443.


October 10 — Hunter’s Moon/Moon of Return of Little Cold

October’s full moon, traditionally called the Hunter’s Moon, is celebrated for its bright appearance and the extra light it provides during autumn evenings. It is also known as the Travel Moon, the Dying Grass Moon, and traditionally “Return of Little Cold” (Jyothowéhah) by the Onondaga Nation (Iroquois/Haudenosaunee), names that reflect the seasonal changes and the gradual shift toward winter.name for the mid-to-late autumn full moon.


October 11 — National Coming Out Day


October 11 – 19 — Navratri (Hindu)

Navratri is a sacred Hindu festival of nine nights honoring Maa Durga, the Divine Mother. Celebrated during the lunar month of Ashwin, it symbolizes the victory of good over evil and is a time of prayer, reflection, and celebration. In 2026, the festival begins on October 11th.
