Report from the P.E.A.C.E. Retreat, July 2026
In July, P.E.A.C.E. members met in person and via zoom, at the Mercy Center in Auburn, CA, for our annual Retreat. The agenda covered a variety of topics regarding our accomplished work and new, upcoming events.
PEACE will be presenting at this year’s NAEYC Conference in Washington DC, which is scheduled from December 5th through the 9th. Our topic is “Peace in Action: Empowering Teachers through Peaceful Practices and Peace Projects.” Watch for the announcement of the date and timing in our December edition. We also acknowledged our 2026 Peace Awardees: Olesya Saban & Betsy Hiteshew. Please read more about the awardees in our other post.

Also, the PEACE Projects program played an important role at this year’s retreat. Aubrey Budelli shared this year’s Peace Projects that were successfully completed, as they each provided a wonderful final summary regarding the work the various programs had completed in spring. The Peace Projects will appear month by month, starting in this month’s edition. We are also excited about our new idea of having our Peaceful Practices Curriculum implemented into the classroom setting. More on this to come in the near future.

Our Book Club Meeting met on the last day of our retreat and Monica Moran introduced some wonderful banned books to the group. We will feature one of the books in our book recommendation section below.
We encourage you to donate and contribute to the continuation of this good work!
