NAEYC reports, “The House just passed the SEED (Supporting Early Childhood Educators’ Deductions) Act, a bipartisan bill that would extend the federal educator expense tax deduction to early childhood educators for the first time! The bill permits eligible early educators to deduct up to $350 for out-of-pocket classroom supplies, materials, and professional development, bringing their benefits in line with those of K – 12 educators. It is a simple, overdue fix. ECE professionals spend their own money on supplies just like every other educator, and they deserve the same recognition.”
